Japan (Kyoto): Better Know Where You Go.

The Shinkansen took us from Tokyo to Kyoto in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The service on board is impressive.
Any item that you can desire on a train
(hot towels, sushi, sashimi, green tea... you name it)
is brought to you in style.

Once in Kyoto we rushed in the street.
We had been told the night before by Kako
that we'd better know where to go in Kyoto
and of course we didn't believe her.
Well she's right.
After an hour under the rain we walked back to the New Miyako Hotel
a little depressed.
All we had discovered was an orthogonal maze of tiny streets.

To comfort ourselves
we beamed up
to the top of Kyoto Tower
where we discovered that the northern part of the city
was more promising.

Yes I know, I talked about Kako like you knew her...
Here's the story.

Last night Kako and David took us out for a swing in Roppongi.
The broiled beef was interesting but Bauhaus was really a blast.
Bauhaus is a little club in which the Japanese band performs
western rock'n roll hits as other non-player band-members
serve the drinks.
And the lead singer does not speak english...
So imagine two hours of stuff like
"Phone to be wide" instead "Born to be wild!"

Beautiful!
